Humanities & Social Sciences
The field of Social Science relates to understanding people, society and culture. This field of study enables people to make decisions as informed citizens of a culturally diverse inter-connected world.
The field of Social Science relates to understanding people, society and culture. This field of study enables people to make decisions as informed citizens of a culturally diverse inter-connected world. Social sciences are a group of disciplines that focus on how the mind works, how people behave in society, and their impact on one another, other societies and the environment.
Employers seek flexible, well-informed graduates who are sophisticated communicators and analytical thinkers. The Bachelor of Social Science offered at IIE Rosebank College is designed to enable students to develop such qualities. The world of work is changing rapidly, and students need to take a global outlook and be adaptable to succeed.
This programme provides a rich basis of skills and knowledge for graduates to apply directly within the workplace or to build on through further studies in Honours or a postgraduate programme.
SKILLS YOU WILL DEVELOP
Upon completing this IIE qualification, graduates will be equipped to apply for positions in diverse fields such as research and analysis, public or civil services, diplomacy, public policy-making, and social and community services. They may gain employment in government departments, universities, the Department of Justice, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, museums, development agencies and non-governmental organisations. They may also be self-employed or work for consultancy firms.

This is a three-year qualification offered by The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) at IIE Rosebank College.
MODE OF DELIVERY
Contact (Full-time): Contact lectures take place during the day, on weekdays, at the following campuses: Cape Town, Mbombela, Nelson Mandela Bay, Polokwane, and Pretoria.

The IIE Bachelor of Social Science is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and is registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as a 360-credit qualification on Level 7 (SAQA ID No: 90905). Upon successful completion, you will receive a Bachelor of Social Science degree from The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), a leading registered private higher education provider in South Africa
