The purpose of this qualification is to expose learners to the general principles within local government and the foundational knowledge for entry-level positions in this field.
The purpose of this qualification is to expose learners to the general principles within local government and the foundational knowledge for entry-level positions in this field. This qualification includes the following modules: introductory concepts in public administration, Local Government structures and administration, customer relationship management, ethics, local government finance and human resource management.
This qualification will provide opportunities for IIE Graduates from Rosebank College wishing to enter the public sector, and existing public servants who wish to enhance their career prospects.
SKILLS YOU WILL DEVELOP
Graduates of The IIE Higher Certificate in Mobile Application and Web Development will be equipped with skills in web development, mobile applications, hardware, software applications, software development, operating systems and telecommunications.

DURATION
This is a one-year qualification offered by The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) at IIE Rosebank College.
MODE OF DELIVERY
Contact (Full-time): Contact lectures take place during the day, on weekdays, at the following campuses: Braamfontein, Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, Polokwane, and Nelson Mandela Bay.
The IIE Higher Certificate in Local Governance is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and is registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as a 120-credit qualification on Level 5 (SAQA ID No: 111349). On successful completion you will receive a Higher Certificate in Local Governance from The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), a leading registered private provider of higher education in South Africa.

DEVICE AND CONNECTIVITY SPECIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR ONLINE STUDY:
• Reliable internet connection (we recommend 5-10 GB of data per month and an internet speed of at least 0.15 Mbps)
• Desktop PC or laptop with at least an i3 processor and 4GB RAM memory
• Windows 8 or macOS 10.15 (Microsoft Office 365 is available as a free download for IIE students), and Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge Chromium or Firefox
• A working webcam and microphone
• An uninterrupted power supply is also highly recommended
